SANGRIA

I enjoy a good Sangria.   Wine connoisseurs would never be caught drinking a Sangria, but I've never claimed to be a wine connoisseur.   I had a really awesome glass of Sangria at The Fort this past summer and it got me thinking about trying to make my own.   Well, lo and behold I found a recipe in last weekend's paper and decided to take a stab at it.
There she is.  Is your mouth watering yet?   Here's the recipe:
  • 2 bottles of Rose' wine
  • 1/2 cup brandy
  • 1/2 cup triple sec
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • juice of one orange
  • 10 oz. club soda
  • fruit...I used oranges, lemon, strawberries, raspberries and blueberries (the recipe suggested plums and peaches...I'll have to try that when they're in season)
Combine wine, brandy, triple sec, orange juice and sugar in a large pitcher.  Stir until sugar dissolves.  Add fruit and stir well to combine.  Cover and refrigerate until well chilled, about 2 hours.  Stir in club soda.  Serve in large glasses over ice.

I have to say I really enjoyed it.    Now I'm on a mission to find a white wine version which is what I had this summer.

Enjoy!
